Dare to detour

Poetry

Reclaiming My Hunting Heritage >>

I managed a poetry specific project for retreat participants of Dare to Detour, out of Bozeman, Montana, which included 15 individual interviews with myself and each woman, where I asked them intentional questions agreed upon by the founder and myself.

Our dialogue culminated in 15 individual, intuitive poems written for each woman that were presented to each woman on their arrival day, the first day of the retreat, as a keepsake and memento of their retreat experience.

I wrote a group poem that I read aloud to the group on their first evening together. The themes for the poetry project were alignment, empowerment, and community. I also wrote the founder 4 poems for a book she is working on publishing.

“Morgan is soulful, earnest, curious and open to possibility, which is why her poetry resonates with most, especially those of us who live in the west. Her ability to listen to understand, rather than respond, allows Morgan to capture the essence of a person or experience honestly. As such, it has been a true pleasure to work with Morgan, and I hope to have the opportunity to do so again and again.”
